Perfect Health With No Illness Or Disease?

In the realm of Ayurvedic science, we know that within the body, health equates to order and a disease or illness to disorder.

The body as we know it has constant interaction with both of these scenarios and can fluctuate between order and disorder ongoingly.

One of the goals of Ayurveda is to teach one to become aware of the presence of disorder within the body and to take corrective measures to correct it and bring back a balance by creating order again.

Once a person gains awareness of their own body through the practice of Ayurveda and Yoga and by consulting Ayurvedic specialists we begin to understand that order is intrinsically linked to disorder and, as such, a return to full health and a balanced system is entirely possible.

Disease when our body is out of balance

As mentioned disorder occurs when the body is out of balance. In order to change your internal environment and return it to a balanced state with the external environment, one needs to fully grasp and understand how the disease process takes place inside of the bodily vehicle.

Ayurveda details explanations of diseases that make it possible to treat them and restore order and health to the body. So within the science of Ayurveda, the concept of balanced health is absolutely fundamental to understanding the concept of disease.

The word disease comes from the old French; des – meaning reversal, and aise – meaning ease or comfort. So to truly understand disease we must first comprehend the meaning of comfort or health. When our digestive fire (agni) is in a balanced state, we exist in a state of health.

Our bodily humors of Vata, Pitta and Kapha maintain an equilibrium and our three waste products, namely urine, sweat and faeces are produced by the body at normal levels and are balanced. Our senses function at their optimal state and our body, mind and conscious awareness are acting in unison. A disease can take route when the delicate balance in any of these is upset.

Due to the fact that a balanced system that included the functions and elements mentioned above is completely responsible for bodily immunity and resistance to affliction and illness, even a contagious disease could not affect a person who has balanced good health. Because of this, we know that physical and psychological pain and illness are caused by imbalances in the body and mind.
