Ayurvedic medicine is one of the oldest forms of medicine in the world. It originated in India where, for thousands of years, it has treated and prevented myriad physical, psychological, and spiritual ailments. In the past few decades, Ayurvedic treatments have become increasingly popular as the western world looks East in search of holistic remedies that treat the causes of problems and not just the symptoms.
The core tenet of Ayurvedic treatment is that the three fundamental components that make us human – the mind, body and spirit – are interconnected: What affects one, affects them all. Treatment programs are necessarily holistic, as they need to restore balance and harmony between the three. It’s not uncommon for a treatment program to include Abhyanga massage, a change in diet, and gentle physical exercise, such as yoga, as well as meditation.
You are unique – so is your treatment
No two people are the same, and no two problems are the same, so no two remedies should be the same. At the beginning of your stay at Indus Valley Ayurvedic Centre, the exact nature of your ailment will be determined through consultation with a highly-trained Ayurvedic practitioner. You will then receive a program that has been customized to balance your unique mental and emotional states.
It could consist of a combination of treatments, which include Abhyanga, a four-handed synchronous massage therapy; When two sides of the body are synchronously treated the sensory input is equally transmitted to both sides of the brain, which creates a total relaxation of the body and mind. Talapodichili, a herbal paste which is applied to your head; Sweda, a herbal steam detoxification; and Kati Basti, a lower back oil therapy; all of which are available at our fully-equipped and comfortable Ayurvedic spa.
The idea behind these Ayurvedic cleansing remedies is to settle your mind, which will unlock your body’s ability to naturally heal itself, which in turn slows down the aging process, and ultimately leads to mentally and physically a renewed and rejuvenated you. You’ll be able to feel a difference almost as soon as your healing has begun.
Revitalizing treatment in refreshing comfort
Indus Valley Ayurvedic Centre is the perfect destination for authentic Ayurveda treatment. The centre is located in the beautiful city of Mysore, which is known as one of the top tourist destinations in India for people who want to get something meaningful, more spiritual out of their holiday. The resort itself offers luxury accommodation in a setting which promotes deep relaxation and healing.
For example, our entire Ayurveda centre is built according to vaastu (or vastu) shastra principles, which, like Feng Shui, ensures that the five elements of wind, earth, fire, water and sky are harmonized to provide optimum health and wellness. The design ensures that energy from the five elements flows unhindered throughout the centre, giving guests the feeling of peace.
The gardens are designed to encourage mental and physical relaxation, with ample space for outdoor and indoor Ayurvedic yoga classes. There are tennis courses, hiking opportunities and a full-length swimming pool. Those who prefer to rejuvenate without much effort will enjoy the well-stocked library and the opportunity to read in peace and quiet under the trees.
Nutrition is a big part of the healing process, which is why we provide delicious vegetarian meals prepared according to Ayurvedic principles. We also offer cooking courses so that guests can learn how to maintain their healthy lifestyles when they get home. If you want to eat some food you like and are used to it and as long as our doctor approves it and it is vegetarian. We have a kitchen where you can prepare it yourself. We will provide the ingredients and an assistant to help you prepare. There will be a small additional cost to cover the extra service.
Your health is in good hands
Indus Valley Ayurvedic Centre sets the bar when it comes to high-quality treatment. Not only does the centre employ the best Ayurvedic doctors, but it also offers therapists a revolutionary training program that combines traditional systems with current processes.
In addition to our internationally acclaimed training program for Ayurvedic therapists, we’ve also designed new and improved equipment to facilitate treatment. We strive to continue developing Ayurveda, to ensure that it gains the international credibility and acclaim that it deserves, and to ensure that Ayurvedic physicians get the training and education they need to carry the industry forward.
As a result of all of our hard work so far, our Ayurvedic cures can be applied to a broad range of complaints, including addictions, hypothyroidism, diabetes, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, ulcers, lopecia, macular degeneration, rheumatoid arthritis and various psychological disorders. Many people also visit our centre to benefit from the physical and emotional support that treatment provides those undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy, as well as those who are recovering from surgery, or who need physical detoxification before surgery.
We also aim to become one of the foremost ‘green’ Ayurvedic companies in India, as we use 100% certified herbal pesticides to keep our gardens in tip-top shape and have projects in the pipeline that will allow us to recycle our water and, eventually, use only sustainable sources of energy.
