An Ancient indian epic - "Bhagavad Geeta" states, "Vasudeva Kutumbam"..

This sentence has a vast meaning, "The whole world is a one big family & all the humans are relatives". In the Indian sub- continent, people are very loving, caring, peaceful & humane. People of various religion live happily and peacefully together which tells about Unity in Diversity! Peace can also be described as a relationship between any people characterized by respect, justice and goodwill. Peace can describe calmness, serenity, and silence. Peace can also be a non-violent way of life. It is used to describe the end of a violent conflict. It can be a state of harmony or the absence of hostility.

Mahathma Gandhi's conception of peace was not as an end, but as a means: "There is no way to peace, peace is the way". He articulated a vision of peace in which justice is an inherent and necessary aspect, that peace requires not only the absence of violence but also the presence of justice. Martin Luthar king believed that, "True peace is not merely the absence of tension, it is the presence of justice. "The concept of peace has been linked to the wide idea of development, assuming that development is not the classical pursuit of wealth.

Peace is what happens when all the people are free to develop themselves in the way they want with out having to fight for their rights!

Our IVAC is one such place where scenic, silent, serene beauty lies peacefully .Here people forget themselves, and connect with peace, calm & spirituality all by naturally & become automatically Peaceful.

Shigru

Latin Name : Moringa Oleifera Lam.
Family : Moringaceae
Common Name : Sajana, sobhanjan
English name : Horse radish; drum stick
Parts used : Root, Bark, Gum, Leaf and Stem

Horse radish is a short, slender, deciduous, perennial tree, to about 10 m tall; with drooping branches where branches and stems are brittle, with corky bark. Moringa oleifera is a medium sized tree where all parts of the tree are considered medicinal and used in the treatment of any joint pain, ascites, rheumatism, venomous bites, and as cardiac and circulatory stimulants.

General Information:

Moringa trees have been used to combat malnutrition, especially among infants and nursing mothers. The leaves are highly nutritious, being a significant source of beta-carotene, Vitamin C, protein, iron and potassium. Moringa leaves contain more Vitamin A than carrots, more calcium than milk, more iron than spinach, more Vitamin C than oranges, and more potassium than bananas,” and that the protein quality of Moringa leaves rivals that of milk and eggs. The immature green pods, called “drumsticks” are probably the most valued and widely used part of the tree. The fruit is said to increase sexual libido in men.

At IVAC Shigru leaves are used as one of the herbs in the Pathra Pinda Sweda (leaves bolus) where the herbs are fried in the relevant oil and made into a bolus to treat the Vata disorders. It is also used to prepare Herbal Decoction for the Avagaha or tub bath. We also prepare various Ayurvedic Culinary recipe using the leaves and the immature pod.

VAIDYA TALK

Frozen Shoulder

Frozen shoulder is the common term for adhesive capsulitis. The inflammation, thickening and contracture occur within this capsule, leaving the shoulder bones unable to move freely within the joint. The inflammation, thickening and contracture of which occurs within this capsule, leaving the shoulder bones unable to move freely within the joint. It occurs much more commonly in individuals with diabetes, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Parkinson's disease, cardiac disease and surgery.

The main symptoms are pain and stiffness. The pain is usually located over the outer shoulder area and sometimes the upper arm. The patient usually does not want to move the arm. The lack of movement leads to stiffness, which is the next phase of the disease. In the last phase, function of the shoulder slowly returns. X-ray and MRI studies are sometimes used to rule out other causes of shoulder stiffness and pain.

An Ayurvedic Approach in treating Frozen Shoulder:

Inside of a normal joint Inside of a 'frozen' houlder

In Ayurveda it is termed as Avabahukam "where the Aggravated Vata and Kapha Dosha gets dislodged into the shoulder region causing difficulty to lift the arm & produce radiating pain at shoulder joint. The aggravated Vata localizes in the shoulder and brings about emaciation of the muscles and ligaments present therein & kapha dosha restrict the movement of shoulder joint. The extrinsic factors are those which generally aggravate vata and intrinsic factors are vata and kapha. Vitiated vata contracts the blood vessels in that region there by causing reduced blood circulation and damage the tissues.General remedial measures are as those used for vata disorders and the specific being decoction of Dashamoola, Prasarnyadi kashaya, Bala and Masha is administered with oil and ghee after the evening meal.

Management of Frozen Shoulder at IVAC:

After the diagnosis through Ayurveda, the panel of doctor at IVAC sets out to treat the patient in a very systematic manner. This would include a set of appropriate Panchakarma treatments and other supportive therapies. Panchakarma treatments as Nasyakarma (Medicated oil-Nasal drops) with ksheera bala 101 is best used to cleance the accumulated vata from the head and neck region and strengthen the nerves and improves the blood circulation. Local massage with ksheera bala taila & Patra Pinda Sweda Therapies are very good helpful to bring the doshas back to balance and to regenerate the body. The treatment comprises diet regulations, daily regimens, yoga and a stress free life. Shastika shali pinda sweda is also an excellent rejuvenating therapy in muscle wasting condition to nourishes the muscles, improves their tone and imparts longevity.
