Dear Guest,

During the last few years global health tourism is emerging as a major industry. Many countries are entering into this foray to cash in. Quality control, affordability, insurance coverage for the service have been some of the major issues. Mckinsey Medical Value Travel survey throws some good insight into this fast growing industry. Most people are looking for quality and speed rather than the cost. Only 9% of the surveyed said that the cost was the major factor. In the next 10 years nearly 15 million Americans would travel each year for health care outside the country.

This century is going to see a major change in the way the medical care is going to be provided. Spiritual medicine is an emerging specialty. There lies a perfect answer to this in Ayurveda. It has a deep philosophical root, which no doubt going to play a front runner role. I had visioned this in the year 1992 and when my health was deteriorating and could find no relief from the conventional treatment I returned to India after three decades of practice as an anesthesiologist in the west and with my background knowledge of the Ayurveda and interrelated vedic sciences and with the help of many ayurveda specialists, the Indus Valley Ayurvedic Centre was born.. Today we have a world class centre providing authentic Ayurveda treatments in the highest professional setup. As a feather to the cap we have the ISO certification, an international quality recognition.

I am traveling to the USA to attend and be a speaker in the World Medical Tourism Convention. I will be reporting on the new developments in my future messages.

Stay with us and rediscover yourself all over again!

Regards,
Dr. Talavane Krishna
President and Managing Director

Practicing yoga is more than taking a class and stretching your hamstrings, it’s the opportunity to stretch beyond the mat and take your yoga out into the world – the opportunity to live it. This is the yoga of service: of caring, and of sharing. Every day we have the opportunity to practice the union of yoga – by demonstrating our love and compassion for all living beings that share our beautiful Mother Earth with us. Every day we have the opportunity to honor our Oneness – by being mindful of our thoughts, our words, and our actions. And, yes, YOU can make a difference…every day - with your choices, with your actions, with your dollars! This is for sure would give an immense happiness within ourselves and lead us to a joyful day.

“The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be”.

VAIDYA TALK

Gout

Gout or metabolic arthritis is a disease created by an increased uric acid level in the blood stream. In this condition, monosodium urate or uric acid crystals are deposited on the articular cartilage of joints, tendons and surrounding tissues provoking an inflammatory reaction of these tissues.

It is characterized by excruciating, sudden, unexpected, burning pain, as well as swelling, redness, warmth, and stiffness in the affected joint causing the skin to be swollen, tender and sore if it is even slightly touched. This occurs commonly in men in their big toes and also in other joints such as the ankle, heel, knee, wrist, elbow, fingers, and spine. Patients with longstanding hyper uricemia can have uric acid crystal deposits called Tophi in other tissues such as the helix of the ear. Elevated levels of uric acid in the urine can lead to uric acid crystals precipitating in the kidneys or bladder, forming uric acid kidney stones.

Explain the Ayurvedic approach to Gout?

Gout is called' Vatarakta' in ayurveda, meaning Vata (air energy) in the blood caused by vitiated blood. According to the ayurvedic perspective, excessive consumption of radish, horse gram, black gram, meat of aquatic, meat of marshy animals, sour, pungent, alkaline, fatty, hot, and incompatible food etc., vitiates air energy (Vata) and blood (rakta). These vitiated energies gets lodged in smaller joints altering normal functions of joints and leading to pain, stiffness and swelling. Treatment is to balance the Vata (Air Energy) and cleanse the blood through Ginger (Shunti), Shallaki and Ashwagandha etc herbs.

How does IVAC assist in the management of Gout?

Ayurveda aims at eliminating toxins and balancing the doshas so as to bring back the basic strength and immunity of the body thereby treating Gout in a natural way. In IVAC healing program for Gout is conducted under the administration of our expert ayurvedic vaidyas, who identify the specific cause of the disorder and address an individual’s need through a personal evaluation. Unlike conventional system of medicine that deals with the disease inadequately further causing the condition to become chronic, IVAC’s therapeutic management intends to re-establish the body’s natural healing and self-repair abilities not just to exclusively cure Gout but also to determine longevity and attain the finest form of well being. Detox therapies like Panchakarma especially Virechana - Purgation Detox program followed by Basti – Enema Detox Program, helps in bring down the uric acid level thereby balancing the energy level. Abhyanga and Shirodhara helps soften and liquify the toxins – uric acid crystals embedded in the tissues, joints and activate the blood circulation. The healing of the Gout is also assisted through implementation of a specific diet that is easy-to-digest yet nourishing, yoga including asanas, pranayama and reflexology to reduce the symptoms of Vatarakta and also reduce mental and physical stress associated with the disease, lifestyle modifications to harmonize with the body’s natural rhythms and ultimately to create an ideal physical, mental and behavioral environment for better healing.

 ...Happy healing at IVAC!
